Now We Are Five

From the next issue, PATTI WHALEY will take over as Letters Editor. Patti is a senior executive with Amnesty International, and a Vice-Chair of the SoF Steering Committee. She introduced the theme “What on earth is spirituality?” at our 1998 annual conference, and was a guest speaker at the New Zealand SoF conference in October.

We hope to encourage more of you to write to us, and from now on the address for letters is Patti Whaley, 145 Petherton Road, London N5 2RS. Or, if you prefer, e-mail your letter to 101335.3561@compuserve.com.

Also from the next issue, ALISON WEBSTER becomes our Reviews Editor, covering not only books but, from time to time, the wider cultural field including films and broadcasting. Alison is co-editor of Theology and Sexuality and of the new journal Political Theology. She was Co-ordinator of the Christian Socialist Movement until this summer and is now Social Responsibility Officer in the Anglican diocese of Worcester.

Proposals for review articles should be sent to Alison at 102 Woodside Avenue South, Coventry CV3 6BE.

With Martin Davies, our designer, and Penny Mawdsley, our distribution manager, Patti and Alison will greatly strengthen the team. We are grateful to them for agreeing to give their time and energies to Sea of Faith magazine. — In April 1999, “The Land is Ours” — a land-rights-movement — will celebrate the work of the “Diggers” or “True Levellers” who in 1649, at the end of the English civil war, tried to make the earth “a common treasury for all”.
