You are a god and never did | hear anything more divine For Nietzsche, those who would offer the second response - affirming on a purely temporal and existential level the value they found in their own lives find value in existence. Nietzsche, possibly more than anyone before him confronted the void of a waste history and a godless universe, and the demand that arose from it was for a human-life to be lived fully in each actualised moment. He obtains a position on the Morning Glory and Johnson County War-Whoop and is told by the editor to take the exchanges and write up an account of them. He produces a polished piece from news in the local papers. Part of his piece reads: 'We observe that our contemporary of the Mud Springs Morning Howl has fallen into the error of supposing that the election of Van Werter is not an established fact, but he will have discovered his mistake before this reminder reaches him, no doubt.
He was doubtless misled by incomplete election returns.
John W. Blossom, Esq., the able editor of the Higginsville Thunderbolt and Battle Cry of Freedom, arrived in the city yesterday. He is stopping at the Van Buren House.’ But the editor is far from pleased. He corrects the piece thoroughly, while conducting a gunfight with a man named Smith, the editor of the Moral Volcano, and suffering a handgrenade attack. Eventually, he produces an amended version: 'We observe that the besotted blackguard of the Mud Springs Morning Howl is giving out, with his usual propensity for lying, that Van Werter is not elected.

His colleagues included Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Bishop of Regensburg and then prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), and Walter Kasper who is now a Curial Cardinal. Because Cardinal Kasper is now so well-placed in the Vatican Curia, it is thought he may be able to mediate on Kiing’s behalf. For in a 1993 festschrift in Kiing's honour, the theologian Heinrich Fries asked whether the Catholic Church is so narrow that it cannot tolerate a man like Kung, or so rich that it can dispense with him? Kiing gave an interview recently to the magazine Der Spiegel in which he praised and supported Pope John Paul II, but criticised the continuing intolerance and "practices of inquisition" in the Catholic Church. It would be of great benefit to Christian faith if the CDF and Kiing can find a compromise that both can accept for the good of the Church.
The Trial of Jesus Celebrating Holy Week and the remembrance of the Passion of Christ, I noticed a good deal of criticism from Jewish writers and theologians about the narration of the trial of Jesus in the four canonical Gospels. For example, Harold Leidner (The Fabrication of the Christ Myth) declares himself to be no theologian, but is unhappy with the way that the trial of Christ is presented. The context of history transported to the Gospels sounds about right, there are an awful lot of puzzles. What exactly was the reason for the persecution of Jesus by the "chief priests'? That he had taught unpopular doctrine in the Temple? In fact, there is no evidence that the Temple precincts were open to private instruction any more than a modern cathedral is - there was a fixed order of sacrifice and worship, And anyway, clairning to’be the Christ or Messiah was not a blasphemy - many had done it before and have since with impunity. It evoked no more interest from the authorities than do the predictions of the end of the world today by extreme sects. _ It is only when they-back such prophecies with violence that the authorities take notice, but in St Mark's Gospel Jesus never advocates violence. ged: " :
