There was a proposal that in this celebratory year, Sea of Faith should go out with a bang. However, as yet, no pyrotechnics have been suggested. Looking back over his 40 years involvement with the network, Stephen discovers unfinished business with the church. Examining controversies of the past, he proposes a plan for a firework display to mark the anniversary, and which may help the network continue and grow.
Stephen Mitchell is a founder member of the Sea of Faith network and former chair of the Steering Committee. He is a priest in the Church of England and before retiring worked as cathedral precentor, school chaplain, rural dean and vicar. In retirement, he makes music and is an occasional blogger.
