Down to Business

Under his guidance, the ABM elected a Steering Committee comprising everyone who volunteered to serve on it. The ABM also endorsed the idea of moving towards a new Constitution, and empowered the Steering Committee to decide whether or not to allow television coverage at next year's Conference.

The new Steering Committee elected the following office-holders for 1993-4: Chair, Aileen La Tourette; Deputy Chair, Stephen Warnes; Network Secretary, Ronald Pearse; Steering Committee Secretary, Adrian Worsfold; Treasurer, Stephen Mitchell; Magazine editor and Media Relations Secretary, David Boulton.

Led by Maxine Green as enabler and Aileen La Tourette as Chair, the Steering Committee subsequently appointed two working parties, one to plan next year's Conference under the title Implications of Religious Faith as a Human Creation, and the other to begin work on drafting the new Constitution. Both will report back to the Steering Committee and the draft Constitution will be put to the next ABM.
